Children's Integration Camp to conclude today

New Delhi: The week-long National Children's Assembly & Integration Camp will conclude here at the National Bal Bhavan on Thursday.

Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Mr. Arjun Singh had inaugurated the Camp on Children's Day i.e. November 14.

On this occasion, a valedictory programme will be organized wherein participating children will be felicitated and prizes, mementoes and certificates will be given to them.

The theme of this year's National Children's Assembly & Integration Camp was: "Promoting Gandhian Values of Bonding for Truth, Peace & Non-violence".

"The theme was chosen so that the values which are being progressively eroded may be revived and the children may be motivated to create a world which is not torn by differences of border, region and religion", on official release from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) said.

An International Conference of Children on the same theme was also organized from November 14 - 16, 2008 at the same venue.

Children from different parts of the country as well as from other countries including Russia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam participated in both these programmes.

They wrote their messages and thoughts on a 'Peace Wall' especially erected for this purpose at the Bal Bhavan. Children wrote on Love, Bondage, Happiness, Peace, Harmony, Patriotism, Brotherhood, Amity etc.

"They wanted to spread the message to whole world that the children feel concerned about the state of the world today which is being torn apart by separatist forces in the name of religion and nation", the release further said.

During the entire period of the Assembly, children from different parts of the country took part in varied workshops of Dance, Drama, Music, Mime, Puppetry, Science, Toy Making and Creative Writing.

The following programme were presented by the children : Hansdhwani (song), Khojo to Jara (play based on Gandhian movement), Trigalbandi (based on integration - fusion of Kathak, Bharatnatyam & Folk Dance), Banna Re (folk song of Rajasthan), Kathak (Gayatri Mantra and Ganesh Stuti), Mantri Ka Chunav (Puppet Show), Bharatnatyam (Jatiswaram), Baliya Bheel (play based on peace and non-violence), Mime (based on Gandhian Value), Din-Din (song based on peace and brotherhood) and Vande Mataram.

A Mass Painting Competition, which revolved around various aspects of human rights and Gandhian Values, was also organized during the weeklong Assembly & Camp.

The programme was organized in collaboration with the Human Rights Commission. Around 500 children participated in this programme.

Children made beautiful paintings showing multifarious dimensions of human values and rights. The topics given were 'Pollution Free Diwali' for age group 10+ to 13 and 'Hygiene, Sanitation & Health' for 13+ to 16.
