| Centre for Nanotechnology to come up at IP University December 05, 2007 New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), better known as IP University, will soon have a new centre for Nanotechnology to promote research-related activities in the field. The Department of Science and Technology (DST) in the Union Science and Technology Ministry has approved the establishment of the Centre recently. The announcement was made by Vice Chancellor of the varsity Prof. K.K. Aggarwal. While addressing the fourth Convocation of the university here on Tuesday Prof Aggarwal said, "The university has always introduced courses that are needed for the youth and are relevant to the society. In view of the Commonwealth Games in 2010, we will start a new certificate programme in sports medicine by the next academic session." The Central Government has already sanctioned a grant of Rs.10 crore to the University for construction purposes, Aggarwal added. Pointing out the varsity's various initiatives in research and training activities, Prof Aggarwal said, "As many as 25 research projects sponsored by various agencies have been awarded to the university. Also we have successfully conducted a short-term training programme for the Delhi Police officers, this year." |
