Delhi: Entering into a college is one of the most exciting phases of life for any youth, however the menace of ragging can not only mar his/ her spirits but also adversely affect the physical and psychological well-being of a student for a long time.

Realizing this, Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, is organizing a workshop on "Anti-Ragging: Awareness, Remedies and Action Plan", tomorrow i.e. August 10, 2010 at 10 AM in the University auditorium.

Open for the first year students of B.Tech. courses, the one-day workshop endeavors to create a better awareness about ragging, safeguards and remedial measures. It will be inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. P.B. Sharma and addressed by senior officials of Delhi Police including Ms Chayya Sharma, DCP, Outer Delhi and other educational institutions of the Capital including Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Proctor, Delhi University and Ms. Purnima Singh, Proctor, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Two student representatives from 2nd and 4th year would also address and guide the first year students on the occasion. The workshop will culminate with a panel discussion, which will be attended by Deans, Head of Departments and officials of the University. DTU follows the policy of "Zero-Tolerance in Ragging".

The University has already created a University level Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squads, and installed CCTV cameras at key locations, to prevent and deal with any untoward incident of ragging.
