Chhattisgarh teachers exempted from non-teaching jobs

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday said about 160,000 teachers of 38,680 government schools would not to be deputed for non-teaching jobs such as census, pulse polio drive or voters' list preparations.

In a notification issued to all the 18 district collectors and heads of government departments, the department of education said it was bound to ensure the best quality and uninterrupted education in the state.

Now government teachers cannot be used for census, health drive or any other non-teaching jobs, said the notification.

"It was noticed that teachers spend weeks outside their posting areas for census, pulse polio drive and also in assisting in various government drives due to lack of sufficient availability of human resources, which is not fair as it severely hampers education," the notification said. IANS
