Anantapur: The University Grants Commission (UGC) team, out to review various universities, recently rated the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and returned satisfied with its performance.

The committee visited the varsity for two days to review the academic and infrastructure development besides the staff position and quality of teaching.

To confer the university with 12B status, the UGC team visited the varsity to study its eligibility making it qualified to receive grants from the commission.

The two-day inspection of the facilities comprised of power point presentation made by the university authorities.

The team returned impressed with the pace of development during the past one year of the university's existence as an independent entity under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Gandhi after the split of JNTU into three autonomous universities in Hyderabad, Anantapur and Kakinada.

The process of filling 130 posts would soon be completed, once the government approved the formal recruitment of teaching faculty in the sanctioned posts.

The VC and Registrar Vijay Kumar are all set to visit England to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Portsmouth University under which several exchange programmes would be undertaken apart from recruitment of foreign students.
