Andhra gets 32000 more engineering seats

Hyderabad: The number of seats in engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh has been increased by 32,000, taking the number of seats to around 2.58 lakh. The programmes for which the number of seats has been increased include electronics, mechanical and civil engineering.

On Friday, a delegation of senior officials had met officials from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to hand them the list of new colleges that have been set up and information regarding the increased number of seats.

According to officials, the exact number of seats being added is unknown but roughly 20,000 seats are being added to existing colleges and 12,000 seats are being added to newly established institutions.

The officials also informed that 26 new engineering colleges as well as 23 integrated campuses offering both engineering and MBA programme had been granted permission for being set up. They would be meeting again on Monday to finalize the engineering counseling schedule.
