Guntur: The Acharya Nagarjuna University recently held a discussion forum involving principals of all degree and post-graduate colleges in Guntur, Krishna and Prakasam districts to prepare it to be legible for a better credibility for the NAAC accreditation.

In lieu of improving its present state, the meeting lead to the conclusion that it would introduce a single answer sheet for all post-graduate examinations of the university.

The university held a discussion on various topics of holding examinations, valuation of answer sheets, and appointment of examiners, as part of its efforts to chalk out plan for examination reforms.

All the college principals of the Guntur district attended the meeting where the Executive Committee members along with Vice-Chancellor Y.R. Haragopal Reddy, Rector K. Viyyanna Rao and Registrar M.V. Narasimha Sarma explained the university’s plan to improve the question paper distribution and answer sheet valuation system.

The meeting also focused on the recruitment of examiners which would be made only by the university and identification cards would be provided for them.

Instead of giving additional sheets, which gave scope for misappropriation by the colleges or other university staff, a unified single answer sheet would be introduced in the post-graduate examinations of the university.

Bar coding of all the answer sheets was also explained to college principals.

The 2010 calendar of the university was also released during the meeting.

The ANU authorities, while accepting suggestions from the principals of the colleges, presented its views in a nutshell on all these aspects to the principals.

It announced that all the students who had enrolled themselves with any of the university before the year 2000 would be given a last chance to appear in the examination in July 2010 under Modified Course or Common Core.

The maximum limit for passing a course has been fixed at 10 years from joining.

Now Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets would be made compulsory for the practical examinations also like the theory papers from next academic year, the principals were told.

Principals of Prakasam district would meet at ANU PG Centre at Ongole on December 31.
