Guntur: The Andhra Pradesh state government has recently passed an ordinance according to which the Nalsar Law University at Hyderabad has allotted 20% quota for students.

Assured of 20% quota means, out of a total intake of 80 students 16 seats will be allotted to the five-year integrated graduate programmes being offered in the University, Minister for Technical Education M. Venkata Ramana Rao said recently.

The decision of allotting a fixed number of seats, said the Minister, was taken by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who felt that the students should benefit the initiative taken by the government to allot land and infrastructure to the university.

"Entrepreneurs and industrialists were also offered to get polytechnics named after them if they consent to donate land," added the minister while explaining other initiatives taken by the government.

The state government has launched 48 new Polytechnics in government degree and junior colleges having no permanent buildings. Land donors could get the colleges named after them, he said.

"The Government had already released Rs.148 crore towards development of infrastructure in the polytechnics," he added.
